Over 50% of mental illnesses start before the age of 14, and 1 in 10 children and young people are coping with the challenges of a mental health disorder. Schools are on the frontline when it comes to supporting children and young people’s mental wellbeing.

Winter Well-Being Toolkit - Resources to help boost winter wellbeing – self-care activities for young people and advice to help them manage their wellbeing
Young carers - if you're 19 and under and you look after someone at home, you can get help with care and your school work. Leicestershire County Council's website has lots of information to support you such as telephone helplines and online forums where you can find someone to talk to. And there are groups you can go to, to get a break from home. If you think you may be a young carer, please contact Ms Webster in the pastoral office.
Young Minds - If your child has been denied support from CAHMS, or you are still waiting to be seen, Young Minds are there to support you. You can call their parents helpline on 0808 802 5544 from 9:30am - 4:00pm, Monday - Friday.
You will be connected to one of their trained advisors, who will listen to your concerns, and ask key questions to understand your sistuation as best they can. They will tailor advice to your situation and suggest practical steps you can take and ways to support your child whilst waiting to access help from services. This could include contact details for relevant support services, practical tips you can implement at home or giving you advice around alternative options for support.
