A key part of teaching and learning here at Ibstock Community College is our homework expectations for all students. Homework is an important part of college life. The Education Endowment Foundation estimates that effective and regular homework can add a further 5 months progress to a young person’s education.
Homework Timetable 2023 - 2024
Homework is a crucial component in your child’s learning and progress, and active participation in homework by students and families will improve outcomes at GCSE.
Over the course of KS4, you can expect to receive a minimum of one hour per week of homework. This will be in core GCSE (not including PSHE or non-option PE) and option subjects and could be a variety of tasks, for example online portal, written tasks or specific exam questions.
As all homework will be set using the Arbor online portal, it is vital that families have access to this. Please contact the school if you are unable to access Arbor.
The increase in the work students are expected to do at KS4 can be worrying some, and this is completely normal. If you are ever unsure what to do, don’t understand the homework, have a lot on at home meaning you find homework hard to complete, then you should speak to your teacher or form tutor to help with this – we can help you! The website below can also provide some useful guidance and advice if you are struggling with homework.
